Import options

Discover the 3D file import options in Work Instruction software to ensure your 3D model is perfectly positioned at the center of the 3D space. Properly centering the bounding box of your model enhances navigation and enables smoother rotation. This setup helps you work more efficiently by providing a more intuitive and manageable 3D experience.

Project Settings

  • Invalid Location Only: Show only the locations of files that are not accessible.
  • Overwrite Steplist Location: Make linking to steplists from differnt locations possible.

Preferences

  • UI Scale: Adjust the scale of the user interface.
  • Lock Frames Per Second: Lock the frame rate to the graphics card's capability. This can be checkmarked by default. It saves energy from the GPU, and the fan operates more quietly.

Toggle: Hide or show a floor plane.

Animation speed

In the up right corner is a slider. Dyvixion works with steps. This time-slider controls the duration of a step. (if there are items in it that change from position or rotation.

This slider controls the duration of animation inside a step. Simply: the animation time can be changed in real-time.

Statistics

In the right down corner are the statistics of the selected item(s).

Select items

To increase speed, it is important to understand the various item selection methods.

There are a few ways to select items

Viewport selection

Select or deselect item with:

  • Left Mouse Button (LMB)
    • add more items to the selection → hold SHIFT + LMB
    • remove items from the selection  → hold CTRL + LMB
  • Drag-window in viewport and hold Middle Mouse Button (MMB)
    • add more items to the selection → hold SHIFT + MMB + drag in viewport
    • remove items from the selection  → hold CTRL + MMB + drag in viewport

Item tree selection

Select an item from the tree with the Left Mouse Button (LMB)

  • add one more item to the selection → hold CTRL + LMB
  • add all items between the last selected → hold SHIFT + LMB
  • remove items from the selection  → hold CTRL + LMB

Additional selecting features

There are some more advanced selection tools to select, edit or manipulate the selection:

  • With the tools in the topbar:
    • add parents to selection
    • select parent
    • deselect parent
    • add children to selection
    • select all highlighted items
    • invert selection
  • From the bill of material (BOM)
    • select the item name(s) in the Bill Of Materials (BOM) list → LMB
    • add one more item(s) to the selection → hold CTRL + LMB

Item state

An item can have 2 types of item states: highlight and visibility. The item states are saved in the steps.

Item state

An item can have 2 types of item states: highlight and visibility. The item states are saved in the steps. Each step can store the item states.

Highlight

Highlight an item is useful for 'standing out' and get the attention of the viewer. If there is a description and there is highlighted part in the viewport, then it is very likely that the description has something to tell about that specific part. The highlight also overrides the normal items. In the case of moving parts - for instance - bolts come out of another part, it is clear what is happening and where the action takes place.

Highlights can be controlled in this way:

  • On → add an highlight to the selected part(s)
  • Off → remove highlight from selected part(s)
  • All → does select all parts (hidden and visible) and can be followed to the On or Off function.
  • Auto → when Auto-highlight is enabled the animated items are highlighted when there is a change in position. This auto-functionality is u huge timesaver, because it saved a ton of mouse clicks.

Visibility

Visibility is used when an item must be no longer visible. Or the opposite.

Visibility can be controlled in this way:

  • On → selected part(s) became visible
  • Off → selected part(s) became invisible
  • All → does select all parts (hidden and visible) and can be followed to the On or Off function.
  • Auto → when Auto-visibility is enabled the animated items became invisible when there is a change in position. The off command is stored at the start of the next step.
This auto-functionality is u huge timesaver, but must be handled with care. Because the visibility-off signal triggered by the auto-function is saved in the next new step, you must be sure the actual step is not selected anymore and you must create a new step. If continuing this flow in the case of making a dis-assembly instruction it speeds up the making of instructions a lot.

Unselected off

Parts or subassemblies can be isolated fast by using the - Unselected off - function.

Gizmo functions

There are two main functions:

  • Offset in XYZ space
  • Toggle between Local and World orientation

Offset

Useful in cases where the item must not transform from the center. For example in the case of an eccentric rotation.

Local / World orientation

Match the orientation from the Gizmo to the world or to the local center from an item.

Relink 3D model

When the 3D model is not found in the original file location, it can be relinked to change the path.

Miscellaneous
October 7, 2024

Relinking 3D models is essential when file paths change or models are moved to new locations. Instead of manually searching for missing files, you can quickly update the file path, saving time and preventing errors in your project. This ensures your 3D assets remain properly linked or preventing from broken references.

Report bug

Report a bug takes a few steps. Read about the best and fastest way to do.

Miscellaneous
October 3, 2024

Here is a step-by-step guide for reporting a bug:

1. Identify the issue

Clearly describe the bug and what is going wrong.

2. Describe the expected behavior

Explain what you expected to happen instead of what actually occurred.

3. Reproduce the bug while recording the screen

include key information such as:

  • Restart Dyvixion and turn tutorial mode on.
  • Start recording with OBS or something similar. (video in .mp4 format)
  • Perform the steps again that lead to the issue to ensure it's a bug.
  • Additional: Edit or cut the recording with Shotcut or something similar.
  • Upload the video (in .mp4 format) and get the link.
  • Paste the link to the form below

4. Provide details

Include key information such as:

  • The device specifications where the bug occurred. (CPU / GPU / memory)
  • The operating system (including version).
  • The software product (Core, view etc.) and version where the bug appears.

5. Assess the priority

Evaluate how serious the bug is. Is it critical and blocking functionality, or a minor issue with no immediate impact?

6. Attach supporting files

If possible, add the Dyvixion project files to help trace the issue in depth.

  • Click to go to project files folder
  • Make a ZIP file from these: The .dxn file and the folder with the same name.
  • Upload the video (in .mp4 format) and the ZIP file
  • Get the link and paste it to the respective bug-form field.

7. Submit the report

Submit the bug report.

By following these steps, you ensure your bug report is thorough and easy for the team to understand and resolve.

CAD export

The best way to export the 3D model from CAD software: Learn about JT and glTF / GLB

Miscellaneous
September 6, 2024

Best file format

The best way to export the 3D CAD model for importing in Dyvixion work instruction software is to export it as a JT file - version 10.6 - (first choice) or glTF/GLB file.

Supported JT versions are 8.0 up to 10.6.

Why JT is the primary choice

JT is fast to export and very small in file size. We talking about 1-10% of the original CAD file. However, GLB is a good one too. But, if your CAD software can export both formats, choose JT. Learn more about JT

How to do

Several CAD software tools can export to JT (Jupiter Tessellation) file format. Or otherwise the GLB (GL Transmission Format Binary) file format. However, since CAD tools often prioritize precise engineering data over 3D file formats, some exports might come with issues like incorrect scaling, textures not rendering properly, or geometry problems.

Here are the plug-ins that are known for smoother GLB exports:

  • Creo - JT
  • Onshape - JT or GLB
  • MicroStation - JT

Start-up hang

When starting up Dyvixion, it can be that it can hang on a black screen. Sometimes on some systems. Completely random.

Workaround: Click on startup again. The second start will work. Now you can close the first one.

Steplist hang

Sometimes after deleting steps and add some new the step counter hang and step names are like duplicates. Quit and restart Dyvixion.
